Hey there, it’s good to meet you

I wouldn’t change a single professional experience or opportunity that has led me to this moment. And yet – I am SO damn excited to be here now. As a clinical mental health therapist for over a decade, I have experienced several sectors of the field – some lit a passion in me, some were less than stimulating, and all were learning experiences. Nearly six years ago, my badass wife (Stacey) and I combined our unique strengths and launched Catalyst Counseling, Inc. In the years since, Catalyst has proudly established itself as a safe space of support and guidance for our community, and I can honestly say that both Stacey and I have absolutely loved every aspect of building this business. Both for ourselves and for our community.

As we gained momentum in the private practice world, Stacey and I began to look further into the future (I love a solid business plan). We each sat down and listed our top 3 interests in the area of mental health. Our most notable overlap was (unsurprisingly) sport psych. This was over a year ago, and today you’ll find us wrapping up our second-to-last semester at Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville in pursuit of our second Master’s degree. This one in Kinesiology (Exercise and Sport Psychology) as a means to deepen our understanding of the world of sport and high-performance. I have been itching to return to school since the moment I graduated from my first Master’s program over a decade ago, so I was only too glad for this opportunity. I have found this experience to truly be a culmination of my life experiences thus far, a convergence of my passions. This knowing was only confirmed at the recent Association for Applied Sport Psychology (AASP) Annual Conference in Montréal, Québec. Throughout the entire conference, I experienced this resounding sense that this was where I was supposed to be. I was excited, motivated, stimulated, and intrigued by the content. And I am so stoked to translate this passion into the work we do here at Catalyst. SO….. Stacey and I introduce you to the next chapter in our journey - Catalyst Performance. We hope you’ll join us.
